In conjunction with respected Auckland based property group, Charta Ltd we took responsibility for a number of submissions that were presented to the New Zealand
Government from 1995 on, regarding the provision of Public Housing through Headleasing - the joint venture was invited by the Government’s housing arm, Housing
New Zealand, to develop and implement a pilot program in early 1999. The program became, over the ensuing years, a major mechanism for the provision of housing in
Auckland, New Zealand’s major city. My role included stakeholder management, including builders and consultants, lease development, product specification and location. Responsibility for overseeing the delivery of the required housing stream inline with Government requirements by developing and implementing an extensive sales, marketing and publicity campaign which, proving successful, led to an expansion of the program. We successfully initiated, implemented and brought to fruition an extensive public housing program from inception to completion.
This start-up niche company operated as an interface between Property Developers and professional groups such as Accountants, Financial Planners, Insurance Agents and Finance Brokers. The company successfully marketed a broad range of property
for Developers such as Becton Group in Melbourne and the Kinsmen Group in Adelaide. Our highest profile success was The All Seasons Barossa Valley Resort (now the Barossa Novatel), a 140 room resort hotel in South Australia. This development was notable as being the first major project of its nature to be marketed under prospectus. Our involvement with this project was as Head Marketing Strategists and implementer reporting directly to the Kinsmen Group on all matters involving the successful sell down of this project. The development was sold 100% off the plan before construction commenced.
Responsible for the Development, and Marketing of hundreds of stand-alone homes for the Defence Housing Authority throughout Australia. All properties were sold “off the plan” and included areas such as Melbourne, Canberra, Townsville, Darwin and Perth. All properties came with a ten-year lease to the D.H.A. and were sold to individual private investors. This success led to similar projects for the Victorian Department of Housing and the A.C.T. Housing Authority.
Concurrent with this I was responsible for the development and marketing of the 60 Apartment “Grandview Apartments” complex in Southport, Queensland and the “Maritime on Nelson” residential complex in Williamstown, Victoria. The marketing knowledge developed with these projects led to the Becton Corporation appointing the firm to take responsibility for the successful marketing of their 140 room Metro Inn Hotel in East Melbourne.
